Summer English Programs
Teachers in the English Teaching Methods Course (12 days, 3 hours each afternoon) are introduced to 20 common methods applied to Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing. They practice these in small groups with given materials and then use many of them in a 2 day assessment of teaching their peers. They are also introduced to writing lesson plans and tips for classroom management. They prepare plans to use in their peer teaching and apply many of the management techniques as well. Readings are included for each topic in order to develop background knowledge and options for further discussion. American students who join the Methods Course are conversation models and facilitators for the small groups. Teachers and assistants share experiences outside of class with families and through sight-seeing. Students experience orientation and debriefing of their day to day experience.
